Super slick. Amazing HR team would recommend to anyone looking for an amazing place with great people and good cause. The work is well balanced with a really diverse team
I applied through other source. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Seer Medical (Melbourne) in Mar 2022
Interview
Comprised of 4 - 5 stages, from phone screening, a take-home code challenge with options of JS or TS in React, followed by a technical interview via Zoom with two of the Engineering managers and a recruiter to discuss the code challenge and general technical/behavioural interview. Then, a final (behavioural) interview onsite with the Engineering manager, a senior developer and the Engineering tech lead, also a chance to tour the office. Then lastly, references and background checks before getting the official offer/contract.
I found the whole process is quite long, it took about 1 month, but I think it depends on how early the code challenge is submitted and at that time there was a long weekend too to consider.
It was not daunting at all, everyone was so friendly, and my nervousness disappeared during the technical and final interview because everyone was so accommodating and friendly. The talent recruiter was especially helpful and gave me feedback as I proceeded to the next steps.
Overall, through the process, I gained insights into how Seer work in a team, they are patient, willing to help, attentive and friendly!
Phone screening followed by a take home coding challenge. The coding challenge said it would take 3 hours but to complete it to the standards they are looking for takes around 8-16 hours. The feedback given for the coding challenge was quite subjective and most of the opinions expressed about coding style were wrong or controversial. Some of the feedback given contradicted their instructions. It seems they are looking for people who write code with an extremely specific coding style so I wouldn't recommend going through this interview process unless you have a lot of time to throw away.
My feedback would be that you should review the instructions given to the candidate for the coding challenge as I don't think the person who is reviewing the challenge actually read those instructions.
Thank you for your feedback. We welcome and learn from all feedback. Our developers come from a range of different backgrounds and each has their own coding style that lends itself to our business goals, so generally, developers that don't move forward in the interview process are those that have gaps in technical skills rather than style. We'll audit the coding challenge to ensure what is expected of candidates is clear. Thank you again and we wish you the best of luck in your future endeavours.
