I applied for an HR Assistant position and was invited for an interview, which I was genuinely excited (and a bit nervous) about — especially since it was my first interview after a two-year career gap. I went in expecting a discussion about HR-related tasks and how I could contribute while transitioning from an HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) background.
Instead, I was told during the interview that my experience and certification weren’t aligned with the HR role, and they unexpectedly started recommending me for a QC Assistant position focused on food safety — which is even less related to my actual background.
To be honest, I was nervous and just nodded along during the interview, but I only realized afterward that the role offered wasn’t suited to me at all. It left me feeling disappointed and a bit embarrassed. It also made me question whether they had properly reviewed my resume before calling me in or maybe it just my fault.
Overall, the experience felt misaligned and disorganized. If you’re applying here, be clear about your direction and don’t hesitate to ask questions — even if you’re nervous.
