The interview process was normal, nothing amazing. The questions were understandable, regarding experience, background, education, and skills. The interviewer was polite. The questions about salary, health benefits, and vocation time have been discussed.

      Project Manager Interview

      14 Apr 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Portland, OR
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Set Creative (Portland, OR) in Sept 2016

      Interview

The process was very confusing. It began when I emailed their jobs email account and received a near immediate reply from their hiring manager. All signs point to 'great' so far. We set up an initial phone interview for three days later. We speak about the needs of the role, my background and why the role is of interest to me. It was a productive phone conversation that led to a very clear next step: setting up an in person interview in their office with their head of production and another person needing to vet me. This was set to happen about two weeks in the future...which is a bit long of a wait to meet someone but hey, people are 'busy' all the time in their jobs, right? I as a job-seeker am more than happy to give anybody the benefit of the doubt. What I got one week later, one week away from my in-person interview has to this day never happened anywhere else but this place. I believe the exact words were: "there seems to be a bit of a pause on the Project Management role at SET in our Portland office." Reading other reviews of people who worked at this place, I was very wary of taking a position here let alone going forward in the interview process. The sudden immediate interest in my background, then completely turned off need to postpone/cancel was bizarre especially given that they have had the job position frozen on their HR page off and on ever since. There seems to be no clear hiring strategy for this role, and it kind of fits their MO of having very troubling management tactics. Long story short - I'd stay away from that place until they get better reviews from people. Sounds like a place that needs to learn some very harsh lessons for them to change their ways both in hiring and in day-to-day operations.
