I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Shift Technology (Tokyo) in Mar 2026
Interview
The interview process consisted of multiple stages, including an initial recruiter screening, hiring manager interview, and panel interviews with sales leadership and cross-functional stakeholders. Discussions focused on enterprise sales experience, managing complex sales cycles, pipeline generation, forecasting accuracy, and customer engagement strategies. Candidates were also asked to demonstrate their ability to sell value-driven SaaS solutions and collaborate with technical teams. The overall process was professional, transparent, and well-structured, with timely communication throughout. The interview experience was challenging but fair and provided a good understanding of the company culture and expectations.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
“Can you walk us through a complex enterprise deal you closed, including how you identified stakeholders, managed objections, and drove the opportunity to a successful outcome?”
I have no complaints. The job requirements changed so we did not proceed past the initial phone screen. I would apply again if it is the right fit for me.
I applied online. I interviewed at Shift Technology (Boston, MA) in May 2026
Interview
The interview process was fairly challenging and consisted of four rounds. The first round was a standard recruiter screening. The second round was with a Data Scientist and involved a very deep technical discussion. Be prepared to explain every concept listed on your resume in detail, including technologies, projects, and day-to-day work experience. They tend to dive deep into even the smaller aspects of your work, so it's important to thoroughly review your resume and be ready to discuss the reasoning behind what you did, not just the tools you used. The third round was scheduled to be with the Hiring Manager, followed by a fourth round with the Head of Data Science. However, I did not advance to those stages, so I can't provide any insight into what those interviews were like.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
I don't remember all of the questions because there were quite a few, but my biggest advice is to thoroughly prepare everything on your resume. Be ready to discuss every project, tool, and responsibility from your previous roles in detail. The interview was about an hour long and involved a very deep dive into my experience. For example, if you mention a RAG application, be prepared to explain exactly how you built it, how it was connected to the AI model, how embeddings were generated, what vector database you used, how the data was stored and retrieved, and why you made those design choices.
