      Educational Content Editor Interview

      20 June 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Mountain View, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Shmoop (Mountain View, CA) in Feb 2019

      Interview

Completed an online application with cover letter and received an email asking me to take a writing test. Spent hours completing the deeply involved writing test, which included prompts to produce two original writing samples and some proofreading questions and an editing test. Earned a phone interview with an editor, which was very pleasant. She let me know that the CEO would get in touch with me for another interview. Months later, I have not heard from the CEO, even after checking in with the editor I interviewed with. Overall, I feel like I invested several hours of my time investigating the Shmoop style of writing, producing some great work in that signature style for the writing test, and putting a lot of thought and care into my editing test, for an interview process that wasn’t taken seriously by the employer.
