I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Sigma Computing (San Francisco, CA) in July 2021
Interview
Submitted online, reached out for a call with hiring manager a week later. one hour call, provided plenty of time to ask questions. Hiring manager questions seemed above board, nothing out of the ordinary though it was hard to hear him. Conversation ended on a good note, eluding that the conversations would continue.
Rejection email received within 24 hours.
The crazy of this interaction? the hiring manager was in their SF office, not wearing a mask, with plenty of other individuals observed walking around their office not wearing the proper protection during a pandemic. An era of the pandemic with the Delta variant running rampant, and the CDC recommending everyone wear masks indoors.
More crazy: this role was to be in their SF office five days a week.
Bullet doged.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Are you willing to work in the SF office 5 days a week during a pandemic?
Thank you for taking the time to interview with us. We have reopened our office and are following all San Francisco and CDC guidelines. As part of our return to the office, we are requiring all employees provide proof they are fully vaccinated and ask all visitors to the office to be fully vaccinated as well. We are growing and moving fast and believe that we are only able to do that by talking to and learning from each other in person. We are committed to the health and safety of our community and are constantly monitoring any changes to those guidelines.
We apologize if this was not made clear to you prior to your interview. We love it when people ask questions if they are confused about any decisions so we are able to explain our goals and reasoning. We wish you the best of luck in your job hunt!
