I applied online. I interviewed at SimplyInsured (San Francisco, CA) in June 2021
Interview
1) You talk to a recruiter who was very nice
2) Then you have a technical screen
I didn't pass the technical screen, because the HR recruiter told me it was a front end assessment, when in reality it was database manipulation.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They had this question where they showed the costs of health care policies for 4 different plans. You then have to edit databases in order to query through the plans to get the cost for the employee. It was very vague, and like I had mentioned the recruiter told me to study front end which is what I did, and it ended up not being that
Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear you had a poor experience during the interview process. Our technical screen for engineers is made of two parts, the majority being a coding exercise to test coding and communication skills. In the end, there is a small portion dedicated to databases. Feedback is important to us, and we will definitely improve the way the technical portion of the interview is explained. If you would like to share additional feedback, please reach out to us at jobs@simplyinsured.com.
I applied through other source. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at SimplyInsured in Mar 2018
Interview
Vivek, the founder and CEO, reached out to me via AList to set up a 'chat'. It ended up not being a chat but a full tech screen. Right off the bat it was rapid fire questions including the technical challenges I had at my past job and then an oral algorithms question about how to efficiently create a join table. It lasted 20 minutes and I never got to ask any questions.
Been over a week now and no response. It was unpleasant as a chat or tech interview I've had.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Efficiently creating a join table to map similar sets of information from two tables.
I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at SimplyInsured (San Francisco, CA) in Oct 2017
Interview
1. Connected through matching system on AngelList mid-year last year. I told them I was interested in talking, but they waited 4 months before responding.
2. Phone call with hiring person. She thanked me and said the next step was a 1-hour technical call and asked for my availability. Then she never followed up even after I sent two follow-up emails.
