Interview
If you are reading this, I'm assuming you are interested in getting a job here. Make sure you ask questions back at the interviewer. The pay is transparent because it's public service, but career development and promotion is not. Make sure you get a definite answer how they will develop you and not some wishy washy excuse like "organization needs". Ask them the standard of your training facility and who exactly are you training with. Make sure you don't get shortchanged. Lastly, also ask them how inclusive the organization is and what is the existing framework to protect a diverse workforce. If you think you are satisfied with their answers, you can consider their offer.
I applied online. I interviewed at Singapore Civil Defence Force in June 2025
Interview
The interview process was smooth and the HR personnel were friendly. Dont be afraid to ask questions via email as they are very responsive.
The prelim interview was conducted by a Major. He was very welcoming and went beyond what normal interviews are like. He shared invaluable insights on what SCDF is about and what I as an individual can do to improve - I am grateful for his advice and his interview also reflected the organisation's culture when I joined too. You must however do your own research prior to the meeting. For example, read the career e-booklet or annual report.
The final round of interview is much more serious and corporate like, it is chaired by a Dir of HR and two other senior management. Don't be surprised if they grill you on your answers - keep calm and take deep breathes when you feel pressured - they want to know you can manage stress well. And most importantly, keep up to date with the world news and know why you want to join the organisation. They can sniff out when you are saying things for the sake of it and will call you out.
All the best!

The interview process was prompt and efficient. There are generally three rounds of interview (1 prelim, 1 psychometric & 1 final panel).
The interviews are tough but the interviewers are friendly and exhibits patience in getting to know you better (so don't hesitate to say "i need more time to think".
The prelim interview was also the most useful as the interviewer gave me multiple advice on how to improve myself as a candidate and person.
