I applied through other source. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Sionna (Toronto, ON) in Oct 2019
Interview
I came in for an interview in the afternoon. They are not open to retail clients so there was not a front desk. But there was a gentleman quickly came up and greeted me. The interviewer (not going to name her) was a very nice person. I can feel that she was actually listening to me and was very patient when I took short breaks to phrase my answer. This interview was actually a very enjoyable time for me - when I walked out, I called my friends and told them how good the firm is. I read their book, so I also knew some of their stories, and it is interesting to meet them in-person. Generally, a very good experience.
I applied in-person. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Sionna in June 2017
Interview
The interview process is very long and I believe its portfolio managers are very biased when interviewing candidates (in the 2nd interview).
The first interview was harder than the second one but the interviewers really cared about asking questions (head of operation and analyst ). I enjoyed the 1st interview.
In the second interview a portfolio manager was totally mute. I don’t understand why. It is like he didn’t want me in the interview at all
Interview questions [5]
Question 1
General questions about your “assigment” . When you pass a first interview they give you an assigment of Max 10 pages researching a company (public stocks).
In my second interview, the portfolio manager never asked a question, his attitude was really discouraging, something like he never wanted to interview me . The bad part is that I spent a big chunk of my summer researching (fundamental analysis ) about that stock and these guys seemed that already have decided I wasn’t a good fit , and I think my research was excellent , many people told me that;
of course Sionna never recognize it , they just got a free profesional research from me. Sionna is not worth it . Stay away
