I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Siren (Galway) in Jan 2019
Interview
This is the most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. The face to face interview was beyond ridiculous. Firstly the owner/founder had never even looked at my CV until he came into the room. He is extremely rude and continuously commented negatively on some decisions I had my made in my career (if he had looked at my CV in advance and had a problem with it he could have just said not to call me in). He sat beyond his desk and PC the entire time I was interviewing. When I asked a question at the end about the role he just dismissed it and said he had to leave. Having spent time and effort to prepare for the interview I felt this was unfair and during the whole interview I was made to feel uncomfortable by him. If offered the job there was no way I was accepting anyway, do some research on your candidates and don't waste their time.
Founder here, you showed up unprepared to basic IT / Computer science questions (as in "what is a hashmap" or some basic HTTP principle.. just for clarity to whoever may be reading) justifying that you had forgotten what you knew before having just returned from this immense lifetime vacation because "you're still young.." and that got to my nerves as in "how about you study then before showing up".
Tell me something about Elasticsearch 6 that i dont know is not a possible question at our interview, we well know its a complex topic. I believe you're mixing up memories of 2 questions.
Anyway, its regrettable we ended up in negative terms and i am not happy that you had a bad personal experience. Since this happened we have put extra layers (e.g. automatic coding tests) to make sure that by the time there is a direct interview there is a better fit on expectations.
