      Interview

The second round of the interview process includes timed mock scenarios: responding to example emails and completing a mock sales call. Each task is timed at approximately five minutes. One challenge I experienced was that these exercises were not disclosed beforehand. Knowing that timed practical tasks are part of the interview would allow candidates to prepare appropriately and approach the interview with clearer expectations. Additionally, the mock call scenario lacked a clearly defined objective or outcome. While the interviewers mentioned that there were “no right answers” and that the goal was to understand the candidate’s thinking process, the absence of a clear goal or context made the exercise difficult to navigate within the limited time frame. For future candidates, it may be helpful to expect quick, on-the-spot responses to sales scenarios involving email communication and a mock call. For the company, providing a brief outline of the interview format beforehand or clarifying the objective of each task could make the process more accessible and transparent for applicants. Overall, the team was professional and appreciative of feedback, but additional clarity around the structure of the mock scenarios would improve the candidate experience. Another point for candidates to be aware of is timing. The interview was scheduled for 45 minutes but ultimately ran for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. The interviewer also joined the call 10 minutes late, which contributed to the session running overtime. Additionally, it appeared that my profile had not been reviewed in detail before the interview began, as several questions covered information already included in my application materials. While the conversation was still professional, candidates may want to be prepared for the interview to extend beyond the scheduled timeframe. Positive feedback is that the interviewer actively coaches you and gives advice during the session. I found that to be a very valuable experience.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Why do you want to be an SDR? Why do you want to work at Sitemate? Why do you want to work in the tech industry over other industries? How would you respond to this email?

Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to leave such detailed feedback. Glad the coaching approach during the session landed well - that reflects how we try to run the process, as a two-way experience rather than a one-way assessment. On the mock scenarios: the exercises are designed to reflect real, on-the-spot situations you'd face in the role. Part of what we're looking for is how candidates think and respond without over-preparation, because that's often closer to the reality of the job. That said, we hear the feedback on clarity around format and we'll look at how we can give candidates a better sense of what to expect going in, without removing the spontaneity that makes the exercise useful. The points on timing and preparation are fair, and not the standard we hold ourselves to. We'll take that on board internally. We appreciate the balanced and constructive review, and hope the next step in your search goes well. Best, The Sitemate People Team

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Sitemate (Sydney) in May 2025

      Interview

It was wonderful speaking to Jordan, spoke a lot about sales processes and our backgrounds. Hearing and learning more about Sitemate gave a strong and positive impression of the company, especially in terms of it's determination to scale quickly and the shared vision of the team.
