This company has a sad and shameful flaw in the way it treats candidates. I began with a screening call from their in-house recruiter in Sept. 2020 which went well and he “enjoyed.” About a week later I had a phone interview with him and two other members of management. I was then invited to complete an assessment - not some multiple choice quiz but an actual two-page composition requiring thoughtful planning and strategy. Now we’re in October and my next call with the staff recruiter was to discuss the assessment where they summed it up as “very well written” and “impressive.” Move on a few weeks and now I have my fourth call with the recruiter and CEO where we had a fine conversation about the position and the company’s new office followed by a “reach out to us if you don’t hear back by next Thursday.” I emailed the CEO a thank-you message for his time. I followed up with the recruiter with emails - no responses. Voicemails - no responses. After a month of this I left a voicemail for one of the other managers from call number 2 out of 4. Nothing. I was left completely hanging to this day four months later. It’s a total lack of respect in not reaching out with even a one-sentence email with a simple cliche like “we decided to go another way” or “the position is no longer available.” After four interviews involving four staff and a rigorous assessment that took an afternoon and delivered before deadline, this company completely disrespected my time and efforts with their lack of courtesy.
My talent is now being utilized in inside sales for a financial institution where I’m ranking at the top of my six-person class in acquisitions and making a lot more money. That said, as shown by an 8-year career in sales for a non-profit, my interest certainly lies less in compensation, and more in meaningful subject matter like audience- and relationship-building for events and exploration of business trends and topics. If Skytop lost me as an asset - no big deal. I still would have continued following them on social media. But, they have to lose my respect as well for this unprofessional disregard for human decency.
