I applied in-person. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Slalom (Manchester City Centre, England)
Interview
Slalom is all about PEOPLE and the whole recruitment approach felt like it is centred on the CANDIDATE from the very start. From my opening discussion to my two 'formal' interviews and my offer (which I accepted) the whole process was very relaxed and at a pace that worked for me.
The Talent Acquisition (TA) team are incredibly friendly and highly knowledgeable about the business and were able to answer all my questions with openness and transparency. They are looking for cultural fit first, and then delved deeper into my background, motivations and aspirations to see how that could fit into their plans. It was a refreshing approach I had not experienced before.
The one to one leadership meetings I had were all offsite, relaxed and informal. It felt very much like a two way conversation and not just being grilled with the standard textbook questions. If you like talking openly about your experiences (the good and the bad) and sharing stories, talking about your dreams and aspirations then you will enjoy your interview with Slalom.
Following both my conversations I reconnected with the TA team to reflect on my discussions and could ask further questions. When you interview with Slalom you are supported the whole way and the TA team made themselves available at times that worked for me which is not always the way.
The end to end process was actually pretty quick compared to other companies (weeks not months!) and I was delighted with my offer when it came through.

Question 1
It was not really a questions and answers format - the focus of the meeting was on me, my background, my aspirations and what I wanted to get out of my future. We talked about my experiences, but I was not quizzed on them, it was more me offering stories that related to the discussion. I also asked a number of questions about Slalom which led to further discussion. As mentioned above, it felt more like a two way conversation than Q&A!
This is absolutely incredible feedback. We really work hard to create a series of interactions that continually get better, so it's wonderful to hear that we came through on that objective. We want to create an environment during the interview process that mirrors the experience you'll have as an employee, and with Manchester being a newer office it's exciting to hear that they're doing so well! Thanks again for sharing your perspective, and welcome to the team.
