      Client Service Leader Interview

      22 Mar 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Toronto, ON
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Slalom (Toronto, ON) in Feb 2017

      Interview

Interview was with the first level recruiter. It was straightforward. We chatted at a more informal level than making it seem like a rigid structured interview. Met at their downtown office in Toronto. Took about an hour overall. After the interview, I left with the recruiter confirming that they will get back to me within a week or so, and that I will have another round of discussions with a practice leader and another client service leader. I kept waiting for a call that never came, so I decided to follow up myself, and the first time the recruiter said they're still working on scheduling, the second time that the practice leader had someone they knew who they would like interviewed and that they'll get back to me. After waiting for another week and half or so, I reached out again and this time the recruiter told me that they were moving forward with some other candidate and no feedback on what worked/didn't work and if any future roles open up, they would reach out to me again (which I know is standard cookie cut response for unsuccessful candidates). I suspect that the acquaintance or previous direct report of the practice leader might have gotten the job. While the overall process was generally pleasant, I couldn't help but walk away thinking about how they profess values and cultural fit, but bottom line is that just like any other company, its who you know that would make a real difference in either getting the job or being turned down. The second conversation with the recruiter, even though in passing, has established that.
