      Java Developer Interview

      22 June 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Bengaluru
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Smarsh (Bengaluru) in June 2019

      Interview

(DON'T GO FOR INTERVIEW) I was referred by one of my mutual friends. HR called me to set up my first round i.e Hacker Rank test for 60 mins. In which there was 5 question, 3 Coding, and 2 Multiple Choice. All questions were pretty straight forward and easy. I completed 2 codings & 2 multiple choices correctly and 3rd was also almost done. Then I was called to set up for face to face interview. Initially, I told that I can come in the late evening after 4 PM. Then they asked if possible take a day off from office and they will complete the full process in 1 day. Therefore, I took 1 day off and went for the interview round. There I was told that there will be 2 technical & 1 HR. First of all, they have their HR office in one building & technical panel in other building. So, I went into another building for technical rounds. After 15 to 20 mins, two people came for an interview. I was interviewed for more than 90 mins in that round. They asked me questions from Data Structure, Algorithms, Multithreading, Collections, Design Pattern. I almost answered all the answers including 2 Coding questions. After that, I waited for 2 hours but nobody came for next round nor I was told that you are not selected. There was no person in that building whom you can contact to ask for the result. I called HR twice, no reply. Then the guy who took my first round, he only came post lunch and asked me as nobody came for the next round. He called HR to ask for the same. Then he told me that the next round panel is still not here. I told him that it is not possible for me to take another day off. Then after half an hour, I got a call from the security guard (Not From HR) saying you can go, sir, HR will share you the feedback. I told him that I want to talk to HR. Then I went into that building, waited for HR for half an hour, she came and told me that it not like you are selected or rejected but our Director is traveling to the US so we can't take a call right now. We will get back to you with our feedback. But it has been more than a week no feedback from their side. I did send a follow-up mail but no response. At least they should have told me that you are not selected, was fine with that. Worst interview experience ever. I didn't have lunch because I was waiting for the next round. If you think you are talented enough to crack the interview, don't apply here. I am not saying that I am but just a suggestion.

      Interview

Resume submission, phone screen with the manager, IQ and personality assessment, on-site interview with 4 employees from various areas (development, quality, management, etc.) Overall, good interview as they assessed my abilities and understood when I had a knowledge gap.
