      27 Jan 2020
      Anonymous employee
      Helsinki, Southern Finland
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I interviewed at Smartly (Helsinki, Southern Finland)

      Interview

There was an initial tech puzzle that should be quite simple to solve if you know basics of web development. Two onsites about Facebook marketing and then a product demo. Preparing for the product demo was the most time consuming as the tool is quite complex. Thirds onsite was an interview with the leadership.

      Technical Account Manager Interview

      15 Dec 2018
      Anonymous employee
      New York, NY
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Smartly (New York, NY)

      Interview

The interview process at Smartly.io was a mix of fun but challenging as it was evident they were looking for a perfect fit for the candidate as well as the company. They look for individuals who are extremely passionate about furthering his/her own learning as well as growing with the company. Similar to what others have mentioned (for almost any position), the process consisted of about 5 steps (1 - Intro Phone Call with HR/Hiring Manager, 2 - Solve a technical puzzle, 3 - In-person Interview about Facebook concepts, 4 - Product Demo, 5 - Call with Leadership Team. The interview process is longer and more rigorous than other processes I have gone through, however, it is for good reason. In addition to the time they provide you to learn the concepts and product, this process provide a great representation of the day-to-day responsibilities as well as the culture of the company. At the end of each step of the process, I was provided with 2-way feedback, which I really valued. If you are already working in the industry or interested, this process provides a lot of valuable insight even if you don't get the job. Overall, I had a lot of fun going through the process and learned more than I could have imagined in such a short period of time. The culture of the company (especially Transparency) is evident whilst speaking to employees within the company and second to none. I wish other companies had a similar process.

      Technical Account Manager Interview

      30 Nov 2018
      Anonymous employee
      Helsinki, Southern Finland
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Smartly (Helsinki, Southern Finland) in Nov 2018

      Interview

The interview process at Smartly is conducted in 5 steps. Firstly, there are two introductory calls; one with their talent team and another with your potential team lead. The goal in this initial step is to identify if there is a match between you and the company. Secondly, there is an assignment where they ask you to solve a tech puzzle to showcase your technical problem solving skills. Depending on your skills this can either be relatively straightforward or impossible. Nonetheless, it is a fun exercise and hopefully you will enjoy it. Thirdly, there is a role interview and discussion on Facebook advertising concepts where your technical knowledge and fit with the team will be analyzed. It is not easy if you are new to Facebook advertising as there are many concepts to understand. In my preparation I have done the "Facebook Ads & Facebook Marketing MASTERY 2018" on udemy which started well but started to become repetitive half way. Furthermore, I have done most of the Facebook Blueprint courses and also read Smartly's blog and other online resources. It took me about 4 days to prepare for this step, although it is important to note that I already had experience with Facebook ads, so if you never used them give it a bit more time. Fourthly there is a product demo simulation where you need to convince them to start trial with the Smartly.io tool. This was the hardest step and the one that took the longer to prepare, the product is complex and the information about the potential client is very limited. Thus, you need to be well rounded in all the features of the product so that you can tailor them to the specific client on the demo day. My recommendation is that you think about the needs of the client that they will give you and experiment with the tool. It took me about one week to prepare for this step, there is a very comprehensive support center about the product so I would recommend that you read it and then try it in the product yourself. Finally, there is a discussion with their leadership team in order for them to know your interests moving forward, compensation, benefits and so on. In spite of the duration and effort required for the whole process, I truly believe that even if you do not get an offer it will not be wasted time as if you are interested in working in this industry you will be able to learn quite a lot about Facebook ads and how Smartly's product solves some of the bottlenecks in creating and managing ads.
