I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Smashbox Cosmetics
Interview
The interview process was organized and welcoming. I first completed a short phone screening with HR that focused on my background and interest in the brand. A week later, I was invited to a virtual interview with the hiring manager and someone from the marketing team. They asked about campaign experience, familiarity with beauty trends, and ability to work with tight deadlines. The atmosphere was friendly but professional, and they gave a clear explanation of the role, expectations, and team structure. Overall, it felt fair and transparent, and communication was consistent throughout the process.

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Smashbox Cosmetics (Los Angeles, CA) in Sept 2022
Interview
I did a 30 minute phone screening with the HR recruiter followed by another 30 minute interview with the hiring manager. During the interview with the hiring manager, the hiring manager didn't seem to ask any insightful or relevant questions. I've sat through multiple interviews and can see that she definitely didn't know what she was looking for and didn't come prepared with insightful questions that tested a candidate's technical knowledge or relevant experience. It was all behavioral questions that were super basic. The funny thing is the recruiter would keep me in the loop emailing me 3 or 4 times post interview throughout 3-4 weeks only saying positive things only to let me know I didn't make the cut a month later. I almost want to say the interview process needs to be more direct and efficient. Come prepared with questions and an idea of what ideal background you're looking for then ask the questions you want to ask. You should also let the candidate know within a few days or a week if they're moving on. In the meantime, don't give mixed signals.
