I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Snowflake (Warsaw, Masovia) in June 2024
Interview
I recently had my first round of interviews with the HR team. Overall, the initial interaction was smooth and professional. However, a significant issue arose during the conversation which I believe is worth highlighting.
The HR representative mentioned that the subsequent rounds would include a data structure interview that must be completed exclusively in TypeScript. I expressed my concern, noting that data structures and algorithms are fundamentally the same across all programming languages. I am proficient in Python and assured the HR representative that I am confident in my ability to solve data structure problems using Python, as the logic and principles remain consistent regardless of the language.
Despite this, the HR representative insisted that the interview had to be conducted solely in TypeScript. This rigid requirement was puzzling and disappointing, as it seemed to prioritize specific language proficiency over the fundamental understanding and application of data structures and algorithms. Unfortunately, this led to my non-selection for further rounds.
I believe this stringent approach might overlook highly capable candidates who possess strong problem-solving skills but prefer different programming languages. Adopting a more flexible stance could benefit the company by allowing a broader range of talented individuals to demonstrate their abilities and contribute to the organization.
