      Corporate Strategy Lead Interview

      9 Dec 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Mississauga, ON
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Sobeys (Mississauga, ON) in Dec 2021

      Interview

HR informed me there would only be 3 rounds; 1 with HR, 1 with HRBP and Hiring Manager, and 1 presentation/case study with Hiring Manager and SVP. After the final round, I was invited for another interview with the SVP which was communicated as a behavioral but then turned into a case study. Typically, SVP level interview is never a case-study. This was quite strange. Interview process is a unorganized and there is conflicting communication between HR vs hiring manager/SVP. There is minimal support from the recruiting team. Most companies I've interviewed for are provide resources or even sample case studies because they want their candidates to be successful - I just didn't feel or see that here. It was quite disappointing. The case study the SVP did with me was almost the exact same as the assignment which was presented to both the SVP and HM; it was unclear the purpose of the follow-up ad-hoc 4th round with the SVP. A lot of the rounds asked the exact same questions as well...with the same people in the room. I'd suggest taking the time off if you think its worth it, there isn't enough time to put together the analysis from the time you're given the case to the presentation if you don't. I withdrew my application because I didn't see or feel that the company was interested in my success (which was directly conflicted as the hiring manager said she was very passionate about making sure her people and others are successful). Also the lack of transparency regarding the final round was a complete turn off. Another turn off was that the team is small, so the hiring manager literally said they don't have the capacity to develop people which is definitely a red flag in my books!
