I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Sonic Automotive (Houston, TX) in Mar 2022
Interview
The interview was quick & straight forward. You interview with all department managers. If for someone reason they aren’t available, you interview with one then are scheduled at a later date to interview with the rest.
You do have to pass an assessment test. If you don’t pass you can’t reapply for 6months.

I applied online. I interviewed at Sonic Automotive in Feb 2022
Interview
Phone screen with hiring manager. Take home test. 2.5 panel interview in person. Case study based on historical vehicle sales, current vehicle inventory, and optimizing which newly purchased vehicles to send to which store. Took a half day off of work to do the in person panel. Spend 4 hours on case study, all of which ended up being a waste of my time.

I applied online. I interviewed at Sonic Automotive (Baytown, TX) in Feb 2024
Interview
I applied online through Indeed. I had to take the Sonic customer service assessment right after applying and a day later, I was emailed by the recruiter to schedule a phone interview. The phone interview lasted about 25 minutes and it mainly consisted of the recruiter explaining the role and giving information about the company. I was asked about my experience. A day after the phone interview, an in person interview was scheduled. The in person interview lasted about 25 minutes as well. I met with 3 people individually and it felt more like casual conversation than an interview. The only thing I was asked was what my duties were at the last job. They told me it would take 24-48 for a decision; however, I got offered the position 6 hours later.
