I applied online. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at SpaceX (Hawthorne, CA) in Jan 2015
Interview
Long and drawn out. Hard tech questions were minimal. The hiring manager did not come into work for the in-person interview, interview driven by HR. The interview went to VP level, after multi-domain panel interview, and meeting with the director.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Questions ranged from the typical "gotcha" tech question (eg. explain the change in packet properties as it is routed from host A to host B) to how to troubleshoot/fix issues they were (currently) encountering.
Never had it, was asked about my background, stated that I was taking classes and instantly sounded disinterested as I would not be able to focus fully on the job. tried to get the recruiter to ask me a few questions but she kept dodging it saying it would be a waste of time as she continued to waste my time.
I applied online. I interviewed at SpaceX (Seattle, WA)
Interview
phone interview then technical interview. Technical interview talked about networks in general, Starlink networks, how they work & structure. How traffic and packets work, etc. Talked about my experience with networking and all about network foundations such as IPs, etc.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at SpaceX (Redmond, WA) in Nov 2020
Interview
Multiple interviews usually one on one. Once you have passed those you have several hour interview with multiple people where I presented a project I had worked on in my current role. After the presentation you meet individually with each person who attended and get asked questions. After this meeting I was told to expect one more with a principal engineer however no meeting was set and all attempts to contact anyone were ignored.
