      Avionics Flight Software Engineer Interview

      10 May 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Seattle, WA
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at SpaceX (Seattle, WA) in Feb 2017

      Interview

There are many steps in this process. First I took a 30 minute online C debugging quiz. Pretty easy, though some of the answers seemed slightly ambiguous. Then I had a call with a recruiter to get general fit. The next step was to talk to one of the engineers on the team, which was about 45 minutes. I felt that it went well, but they decided not to continue with me. My understanding of why is because they didn't think my background fit with the role I'm a mechanical engineer with a focus in control systems, and they were hiring for a software role. I would have liked a shot, as I am a pretty good programmer and I didn't see other roles that fit me better, but I understand their logic.
