I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at SpaceX (Hawthorne, CA) in Jan 2020
Interview
Super rigorous, but better than I feared. 1 hour presentation to the team + 6-8 30 min. 1:1 interviews. The specific team I interviewed with was actually super friendly and understanding.

One person had a mechanical engineering (beam bending, degree of freedom, etc.) quiz for me.
Another person brought out an engineering drawing of a valve component and asked me to explain it.
Technical and behavioral phone interview with two rounds. Asked about technical aspects of my projects as well as abstract mechanics based / coursework based questions. Finally asked some culture fit questions.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at SpaceX in Feb 2023
