      Application

The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Spotcap

      Interview

The interview process consisted of 4 steps: - initial call with hiring manager (30 min) - 3 hour technical case - 1 hour phone call with HR - final discussion with hiring manager I completed the first two steps and received very positive feedback from the hiring manager, telling me he was very excited to get me on board. After my phone call with HR, however, I was extremely turned off by the company and decided to stop the interview process. Two aspects which resulted in this were: - When submitting my application, I wrote down my potential start date. During the call with HR (after the initial call with the hiring manager and the 3 hour case), the HR manager seemed to notice this date for the first time, and told me it wouldn't be a good fit. - I asked the HR manager about the possibility of working from home on occasion. She told me the company has a strict policy against working from home because it's difficult for managers to know what their employees are doing. She continued, stating that it's very important that those in "lower positions" remain available all day in case someone in management, or "higher up", has a question. She finished this by saying that it is unacceptable to let those who are "above me" waiting for too long. I wish I had had this conversation with HR before completing the 3 hour case study. I immediately decided to stop the application process.
