I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Sprout Social (Chicago, IL)
Interview
The interview process moved at the perfect pace. Not too quick and not too slow. I felt that I had the opportunity to interview Sprout just as much as the hiring team had time to interview me. Sprout needed someone to fill the role, but they weren't going to rush into it.
It started with a brief phone screen and then I came into the office twice - first to meet with potential managers and second to do a 30-minute presentation.
The team asked great questions - not too tough, but not easy. A blend of personal, experience and scenario-based questions. They did not skirt around anything. Again, they're trying to determine if you're a fit (culturally and experientially) for their benefit as well as yours.
My first screening interview was with a lively, engaged recruiter who asked great questions and made me feel exceptionally welcome and excited about the opportunity. Unfortunately my second interview with the hiring manager was extremely impersonal, to the point where I questioned if the hiring manager on screen was actually AI. They did not take any time to get to know me, read questions off to me rapid-fire like they were being launched from a cannon, and did not ask any follow-up questions nor engage in any conversation. Obviously, I was not selected to move forward nor would I have enjoyed working in such an environment. Please have some humanity in the workforce!
