Square interview questions

Interview process was call with recruiter, hiring manager, 4 panel interviews 45 min each focused on analytics, strategy, technical and design. Separately there's a take home presentation that you will present to the panel.

Applied online and was contacted by a Square recruiter within a week or two. The recruiter interview was professional and pleasant and clearly established the expectations for next steps. The hiring manager interview was unfortunately not as professional. I had done my homework and felt prepared to speak to how my experience and expertise applied to the job and the company but that is not how the conversation went. The role I was applying for was senior yet the interviewer only asked a few standard behavioural type questions. There was no follow-up questions or opportunities to really engage. Maybe it was just a bad day for them but it was clear that I was not what they were looking for or there was something missing from my resume or cover letter. It was kind of a bummer but it did made it clear to me that I was not a fit for the role and nor was it aligned with my expectations for a senior position. Recruiting team was great though! Kept me in the loop and were timely with interview bookings and information sharing about salary, travel, etc.
