I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at St. Thomas High School (Houston, TX) in Apr 2026
Interview
It was a positive interview process. Had a first interview over the phone quick ten minute phone screen then had to wait about a week because they were going on Easter break. Good 30 minute interview process with the director. Did a final with the principal and the director. I got to the reference stage but then they ghosted me. I'm not sure what happened but definitely bad practice to leave people hanging without a clue of where they are at specially after the reference stage since there's been a lot of face to face at that point hours spent and then nothing. It's been over a month I figured I definitely didn't get the job but who knows I will never know if I didn't hear anything.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at St. Thomas High School (Houston, TX) in Feb 2023
Interview
Filling out the application was probably the hardest part; a cover letter is expected for instance. I was interviewed before the Dean of the English Department, the Principal, and Supporting Teacher. Overall, the interview process was light, but candid, and allowed for me to be open. Principal Dominguez was very helpful throughout the whole process, even responding by text.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Not sure I remember any direct quotations, but I do remember them asking about different parts of my resume, commenting on the fact that I had listed bosses as references - and being impressed by that. They really value prospective teachers to be at St. Thomas for the long haul, and to be career minded. I would say that based on how the interview went, there would be a lot of investment and support into anyone joining their ranks, and I'd expect that they're looking for that level of commitment back.
