Thank you for sharing your feedback and for taking the time to meet with our teams. We have a unique mission and culture, so our approach can be confusing when compared to other firms you may have engaged with during your job search. In our initial conversations with a new candidate we focus on your moviations and alignment to the belief that a bottom up approach is more effective in solving the issues in our society. As the process continues you get an opportunity to meet more members of the hiring team and their focus takes a deeper dive on your professional experiences.
Why? To quote our founder, Charles Koch, "When hiring, if forced to choose between virtue and talent, choose virtue." Net, net we are a mission-driven community of professionals and our approach to philanthropy is unique. We believe that our most successful teammates posses a passion for the work they do AND the mission we're all working towards.
We realize these types of questions might seem unusual in a job interview, so we make sure to provide you with pre-reading materials that will help you better understand who we are and our approach to social change. It looks like we could have done a better job of explaining why we were asking you those questions! Our apologies for any frustration this may have caused you and thank you again for sharing your feedback, we'll make sure to let the team know and ask them to spend a bit more time in the initial discussions to provide more insight into our approach.
We wish you the best of luck in your job search!
