I applied online. I interviewed at State of Maine (Augusta, ME) in Feb 2026
Interview
Simple, was asked a few technical questions about React, asked about familiarity with Java, and detailed how BAs, System Analysts, and Computer Programmers/Programmer Analysts work together and what the office structure is.
I recently went through the interview process for a role with the State of Maine Secretary of State. I completed two in-person interviews and answered more than 30 questions in detail. The hiring manager told me I would hear back last Friday, and that a decision would be made today. Unfortunately, I have not received any follow-up or communication.
The lack of response after such a lengthy and time-intensive process is disappointing. As a candidate, I invested significant preparation and effort, and basic follow-up would have been a reasonable expectation. This experience raises concerns about how the organization values the time and effort of prospective employees.

• Give me an example of when you had to interpret or apply policy or regulations in your work.
• How have you approached resolving conflict within a team?
• Walk me through a time you had to adapt quickly to a change in process or leadership direction.
