I had a 30-minute virtual interview with the recruiter via Google Meet. Right from the start, the recruiter focused on her list of questions before allowing me to introduce myself or discuss my background, including where I was in my job search and whether I was applying elsewhere. That approach felt impersonal and set a negative tone for the rest of the conversation. The job description itself was far broader than a typical Senior Product Marketing Manager role. They're looking for someone to do a lot of technical writing, support enablement, and content creation — on top of strategic PMM work. When I asked about the balance between strategic vs. executional expectations, she wasn’t able to provide a clear answer.
Ultimately, I received a rejection email via LinkedIn before receiving a formal follow-up by email, which felt somewhat unprofessional.
