      Assistant Buyer Interview

      20 May 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Stitch Fix (San Francisco, CA) in Feb 2015

      Interview

Had a phone call, followed by a presentation/project, then moved on to an on site interview. I felt good with the phone screen, but when it came time to present a project to the group online we had some technical difficulties. It was awful. They couldn't hear me unless they were on mute and I couldn't hear them unless I muted my end. I also used two monitors so I could see them while I was presenting. I think they must have thought I couldn't see them just because I couldn't hear them. I could see them not actually paying attention during my presentation. They chatted amongst themselves and were on their phones the entire time I spoke. I tried to give the phones issue the benefit of the doubt and told myself they were most likely making notes. Because of how the technical difficulties were handled and the lack of interest when I was speaking, I knew they weren't interested in me as a candidate. Imagine my surprise when they asked me to come on site. At this point, I had already thought about withdrawing myself from consideration formally but thought I would just let it go. I was turned off by the interview process. I came on site with the wrong attitude. I felt like they needed to impress me at this point. They still felt that I needed to impress them. Needless to say it was not a good match and I was not offered a position.

      Assistant Buyer Interview

      28 June 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Stitch Fix (London, England) in Apr 2019

      Interview

It was a positive interview process all in all, the people I met were very nice and I was given a project to bring to the in person interview. Unfortunately I was not offered the job even though it seemed they were impressed with what I brought to the table. This could be based on lack of previous experience within the buying sector.

      Question 1

A lot of situational questions, "like how would you handle a situation if this were to happen..."

      Assistant Buyer Interview

      24 Feb 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Stitch Fix (San Francisco, CA) in Feb 2016

      Interview

First had a phone interview with a buyer, then a week later an HR coordinator finally scheduled my in-person interview for a week later. (2 weeks after my first convo) Interviewers were late, their presentation equipment didn't work which threw me for a loop. 3 people panel interviewed me after I did my presentation of a Skirt Assortment for that month. Then it was 2 one on one interviews. No one told me the process, HR never talked to me, have no idea what salary was, no actual explanation of why I should work from them during the interview. Felt very uncomfortable the whole time, like they were too busy to look up from their laptops to actually talk to me. This position is actually a BUYER position. I recommend they change the title. I'm super disappointed with how this went as I really wanted to work for them (I have Stitch Fix Styling experience as well). They seem like an awesome company to work for just, I wish I was given another chance with people who wanted to be there, but I guess that's how it goes...
