Interview for IT Project Manager at Strategic Staffing Solutions
The interview process started off well, but toward the end, I was asked technical questions. I was specifically told these questions would not impact the hiring decision. However, despite answering many correctly, I was ultimately rejected.
One of the questions I got wrong was about networking, which wasn’t part of my previous role. My experience is in desktop and software troubleshooting, managing asset disposal and inventory using ServiceNow, reimaging and deploying computers, processing asset returns, and maintaining IT inventory. I also handled server break-fix, cabling, GDCO ticketing systems, server data center operations, and rack management—but not networking.
Being told that technical questions wouldn’t affect the decision, only to be rejected afterward, felt misleading. Transparency in the interview process is important.
