I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at SuperGraphics (Seattle, WA) in Apr 2011
Interview
Overall, I would have to say that my interview experience was positive except for where it really counted, the hiring manager. The HR specialist couldn't have been more accommodating, professional and friendly and the lead designer who ended up running the interview was also friendly, helpful and courteous. Unfortunately, the hiring manager shined me off within a matter of minutes of sitting down to talk. He said that he hadn't really had the chance to go over my resume but did notice that I hadn't done any "real" work for a number of months. (I've been one of those trying to get re-employed after my former position was dissolved in this economy) I tried to tell him that I had been doing freelance and charitable work just to keep my skills up and that I had been taking the opportunity to advance my software skills. He wasn't interested in any of that. Within a few moments of initiating the interview, he left the meeting to the designer and I never saw him again. Apparently I was one of those people who was "too unemployed" to be considered for the job.
