Everything was reasonably standard (submit a resume, multiple-round interview, writing test) until the end of the process. They told me they would get back to me in about a week on whether I got the position since they wanted to move fairly quickly. During this waiting period, I let them know I had another job offer and asked for clarity on whether I got the position. They said they couldn't let me know until Thursday that week. Thursday came and went without a word from them so I reached out and received no response until many days later when they let me know I didn't get the position because I was one of 2 final candidates but "after a closer look, this particular opportunity didn't seem like the best fit." This is all fine, but it's best to respect the candidate's time and not draw things out— especially when you're not sure if someone is a good fit for the organization.
