My experience with the interviewer was less than satisfactory. Throughout the interview, she solely relied on reading questions from her computer, lacking any sense of engagement. The questions posed were overly technical for the position I was applying for (Executive Assistant/Office Manager). As any seasoned Executive Assistant knows, our role doesn’t adhere to a strict playbook; everything we do is dependent on a number of varying factors and circumstances. Instead of reciting scripted trick questions, interviewers should demonstrate genuine interest in learning about the candidate. I propose that either a skilled HR professional or the hiring manager take charge of these screenings to ensure that intelligent, talented and capable candidates aren’t overlooked due to an unqualified gatekeeper.
Furthermore, it’s worth noting that Sword fails to disclose salary ranges for their open positions, a practice that violates regulations in New York City.
