I applied through other source. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at TJ Cross Engineers (Bakersfield, CA)
Interview
I was invited to interview at the office which lasted about two and a half hours. The interview involved two gentlemen in a panel-type setting and subsequently HR. The process wasn't particularly structured, centering around a discussion of the company's operations. The company asked about my work and applicable software-related experience, along with technical writing ability. Overall I didn't get a sense of connectivity, which was likely due to lacking direct experience in their particular area of specialty. I further received the impression that the company wasn't much interested in either my discussion or questions. A telephone interview would have been much more practical and efficient, and I'm not clear why one wasn't initially arranged given the significant distance entailed.

Question 1
The unexpected question that wasn't asked: "We realize you're driving over 500 miles round-trip to visit our office, but are you aware that you're paying for your travel expenses?"
