I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Tango
Interview
Was contacted by a recruiter about the position. I currently am not looking for a new job but the benefits did beat out my current job. I talked on the phone with the recruiter and seemed that everything went well and sent me time to meet with a Hiring Manager. The hiring manager was in the same city as me and their office was like a 5-10 min drive from my work, however I was scheduled to talk on the phone. I thought the scheduling of time was pretty cool, it helps with the phone/email tag of how to sync up schedules.
The interview with the hiring manager was like 20 minutes long. He asked very few questions. First one was asking me about how I got into technology. Second question was something about how i would debug a system that is slow. Third question was an extension of the first stating "your system is slow because there is a message queue and one message is not being pulled off how do you fix this issue".
I understand that production issues are something all software engineers have to work on but interviewing for a Full Stack Developer position i expected to be asked about the technology stack I work with, projects that I worked on and issues that I personally ran into and how i fixed them, not super open ended questions based on bad system design.

Question 1
How would you debug a production system running slow.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Tango (Seattle, WA) in Oct 2018
Interview
Had an initial phone screen with a recruiter. He described the company, it's people-first culture, and the position. We discussed my experience and what I was looking for in my next job. He was very upbeat and informative.
At the end of our conversation he indicated that it gone very well, said he would like to schedule a meeting over coffee between me and one of their Senior Developers for the following week, and that he would be in touch.
I sent two follow-up messages over the next week but never received any response.
A simple "we've decided to move forward with other candidates" update would have been greatly appreciated, especially in opposition to being completely ignored.
Hello, and thank you for your review.
It is certainly customary during our recruitment process to send out emails to candidates informing them of any updates to their application. We take the candidate experience to heart as we are incredibly empathetic to the candidate throughout the application process.
We sincerely apologize for any miscommunication or lack of communication that may have occurred. We will be reviewing all requisitions that were open in October and verify update emails sent.
