I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at TapResearch in June 2021
Interview
Recruiter reached out via LinkedIn. Had a standard recruiter screen over the phone, then a 1-hr video call with the Director of Product.
I was expecting a normal behavioral interview, but he asked me one question about my background and then we jumped into a "design exercise" in which he showed me a beta feature they were working on and asked me to give him feedback on it from a design/usability perspective.
The whole thing felt very weird and disorganized, and after about 10 minutes I realized they were essentially using this "interview" to get free design advice. He couldn't really answer any of my questions around the intent of different features or design considerations that had gone into the UI, so it was a very one-sided conversation. He didn't leave any time at the end for me to ask questions about the company.
I never heard back from them after that — not even a rejection email, they just completely ghosted me.

Question 1
What would you do to improve this feature we've been working on?
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. We are continually striving to improve our interview process and have relayed the information to the hiring team.
