Interview
I applied for the position and received an invite for an 30-minute interview two days later. The recruiter was very prompt and on top of it, which was appreciated. However, when receiving the interview invite, there was no mention of a live Excel assessment, only after I provided my availability. I asked the recruiter if I should prepare for anything (just in case), and they said there was no need to. Naturally, I did prepare, although there is only so much you can prepare for when you’re not sure what will be asked of you (other than the general data sorting, pivot tables, etc.,). Then came the interview with the hiring manager, who was very nice and helpful throughout the process. I was only asked one question, which was to talk about my experiences and why Tatari, and a quick follow-up after that. Then we jumped into the live Excel. Unfortunately, I was not able to open the spreadsheet that was emailed to me during the interview (which, naturally, threw me off my game), and as simple as the questions were (and what I typically do on a daily basis), I was left flustered and couldn’t perform my best — which might have been the point of the interview, to test your skills on the spot. I read in some of the reviews that candidates were provided a take-home assessment in the first round of interviews, so maybe the process has changed recently. Overall, I felt as though the interview itself wasn’t set up to get to truly know a candidate, but see if they’re quick with Excel. It almost felt like a test. Ultimately, it wasn’t a good fit, but the team seemed pretty nice and understanding nonetheless!
