I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at TechMD (Costa Mesa, CA) in Nov 2014
Interview
I received no phone call from a recruiter in regards to my resume. Just received an email to complete an interactive self-recorded interview within 3 days, which was a HUGE redflag. A company that doesn't have the courtesy to call a desired applicant shows that they don't value the time/interest the applicant took, and most-likely they have the same attitude towards their employees. Not to mention, last I checked, this wasn't a fortune 500 company like Google receiving 1,000 resumes a week.
The "interview" was through a 3rd party portal where they would give you the question and you would hit record to answer the question(1 minute max). There was a total of 5 questions and they were pretty basic with 2 technical questions. Though it's not stated, they DO see how long you're logged into the interview portal so be very weary of the time you spend doing the interview. Obviously, the more time you take, it will not look good for you.
Thank you for providing feedback regarding your interview experience as this helps us improve our process for the candidate and TechMD. We apologize that the one-way interview was uncomfortable for you. It is a newer method of interviewing and used by many great companies today but we know it is not for everyone. As a technology business, we are always trying to use technology to make the interview process more efficient for all involved. It takes the place of a phone interview, but the benefits of the video interview are it can be completed at your convenience and we allow unlimited attempts so you can take some time to think about questions before recording your best responses. As a result of feedback, we now provide the outcome to all video interviews within 72 hours. The time taken to complete the videos is not taken into consideration in the interview process; only the content of the responses is reviewed.
