I interviewed with a VP and was then asked to complete a technical take-home assignment. The expectation was to deliver a fully functional prototype within 48 hours, with an estimated effort of about 8 hours, despite the job description saying coding expertise was not required. I completed the assignment and then presented the solution during a separate one-hour interview.
In my view, the scope and turnaround time for the assignment were completely unreasonable for an interview process, especially without compensation. After that, I had a lighter 30-minute technical interview that was fairly straightforward.
Unfortunately, after investing significant time in the process, I was ghosted by the recruiter despite following up. Overall, the process felt overly demanding and poorly communicated. Based on my experience, I would be cautious about investing substantial unpaid time in this company’s interview process.
