      Interview

First round: phone call with someone from Lucas James, who is their partner and an extension of the team. Asked me to introduce myself and some details of projects shown on my resume. Touched on salary, benefits, and answered all my questions. Second round: 1 hour zoom with Support Manager. Also started with introducing myself, then she talked about the office structure and responsibilities of the role. She also asked me to talk about my previous work experiences and projects I've done in school. It was conversational, and then we proceeded to more behavioral questions, where she asked "What is the most challenging project you've done?" where I replied in detail with a recent analytical capstone project I lead in college. There were technically more questions she planned to ask, but she decided to move me forward without asking those. We ended up using around 45 minutes. SQL Assessment: this is a take home assessment with 10 SQL query questions and 1 email writing. This is to be done before the final interview, so I had 3 days to do them. I have taken SQL classes in school, and those are not hard at all. You can expect some select, update, inner join, and left join statements. You can use all the resources (even ChatGPT shhh), and since this is a entry level position, you don't need to score high to move forward. I, however, wanted to do it perfectly to increase my chance. Final interview: 1 hour in person with the Director of Support Services. I was welcomed with water and pops, and we sat in a conference room. Also started with me introducing myself, then he asked what I know about this role, and what do I think is the most challenging. I did hit on some (not all) of the things he had in mind, but he didn't expect me to be perfect. I was expecting some technical questions, but there weren't any. He then asked some more behavioral questions like "tell me about a time you failed", "tell me about a time you dealt with a difficult customer", " what are your thoughts on continuously learning new software and technologies", and "what is something you recall from your previous experience that you can improve on". Then he told me that I'm a good fit to their team and they promised to send me an offer a few days later.
