I interviewed for an advising position and advanced to two out of three rounds. At the conclusion of the second interview, I was told I would receive an update the following week. After following up with the point of contact, I was then informed I would hear back by the end of the month and would be updated as soon as more information became available.
The end of the month passed without any communication. I followed up again and received no response.
Both interviews were scheduled late in the evening (7–8 PM), which I accommodated due to time zone differences. However, when a candidate makes themselves available outside of normal business hours, especially at that time of night, it is reasonable to expect clear communication and closure.
I understand that hiring timelines can change, and I am not disappointed about not advancing further. However, the lack of follow-up and communication left a negative impression. Even a standard rejection would have been more respectful of a candidate’s time and effort.
