It was truly terrible, I don’t believe they intended to hire me. I was working at a very successful locally owned cafe and I believe they only brought my in for an interview in an attempt to get “dirt” on the company I’d worked for. They asked repeated, extremely uncomfortable questions about specific numbers and sales amounts that anyone would know is inappropriate to ask. Repeatedly asked for the “real” reason I wanted to leave the cafe I was working at and wouldn’t accept my answer of wanting to move on before there was a problem and insisted I just wasn’t divulging what the problem was. It was just myself, at the time a woman in her early 20s and 2 people in their late 40s/50s, it felt like an interrogation. I should have walked out long before this but at the end of my interrogation they said “you’ll have to dye your hair and take out your nose ring”, when I said no, I thought the woman was going to faint because she was so flabbergasted that I’d choose my own happiness over changing my appearance for a job that wasn’t going to hire me anyway.
