I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Tesla (Palo Alto, CA) in July 2022
Interview
I was given a screening interview, then a mechanical engineering test, and another screening interview after that. Then I was flown out to site for 5 very difficult interviews with members of the team
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
One interesting question was "Name at least 10 ways to make a hole in metal?"
Friendly interview. I felt very welcome and encouraged by the team. There was a presentation held by a manager about the current projects. Technical questions should be easy for someone freshly out of college. They were theoretical.
The interview process was quite comprehensive and covered a wide range of technical topics. Many of the questions focused on embedded systems, circuit design, and VLSI concepts. There were also some problem-solving scenarios to test analytical thinking.

Question 1
How would you design a test plan for verifying a new VLSI chip’s functionality?
I applied online. I interviewed at Tesla in Aug 2025
Interview
Interviewer seemed friendly, I felt like interview went okay but got instantly rejected right after, The interviewer asked a few basic resume questions (what was your biggest challenge? debugging process?) as well as whiteboarding one of my projects. Some technical questions at the end
