I applied online. I interviewed at Texas Department of State Health Services (Temple, TX) in May 2016
Interview
I applied online and process took about 2 weeks. I received a call from hiring manager and scheduled an interview. After interview, I never heard back. I also followed up but never got any response. Thus, I am assuming that I did not get the job.

Interview
I have had several interviews with DSHS. It's always a panel interview with 3-4 people in a very sad, very large building. The admin sets up the interview and picks you up from the lobby. You are given 10-15 minutes in a room to look over the questions, then they bring you in a second room to interview with 3 people. They take turns asking you questions and writing notes about your answers. Sometimes they ask follow up questions. In one interview, they kept asking me to elaborate without giving me any specifics about what they meant. I withdrew my application from that office, as it was very uncomfortable and stressful, plus no one smiled. There is often a skills test which involves writing, data analysis, or something else related to the job at hand.

(on the skills test) Using the data above, determine how many fetal deaths were in pre-term births. What percent were low weight? etc. They also asked for a narrative on the data.

Interview
I interviewed from out of state. Two weeks after application, I got an invitation for a phone pre interview, followed by a second phone interview. They emailed me the questions 15 mins before the interview time. Right after the interview they requested for references.
