My experience with The Beauty Institute’s hiring process was confusing and disappointing.
I applied for a position aligned with my qualifications and was initially contacted by Zesty, who was courteous and scheduled an interview promptly. She mentioned she would forward my resume to the owner for the next step.
During the virtual interview with the owner, however, the process felt disjointed. He disconnected the call three separate times by pressing the wrong button—within the span of 20 minutes. This level of distraction, coupled with constant fidgeting and neck-stretching, made it difficult to engage in a professional conversation. It felt more like trying to interview with someone who wasn’t prepared or present.
At the end of the interview, I was unexpectedly offered a different position—Admissions Rep—one that I had not applied for or discussed previously. When I politely declined, I was met with a condescending comment about being “too focused on titles,” and was told they could withdraw my resume if that’s how I felt.
I found this interaction not only dismissive but indicative of a potentially toxic work environment, where boundaries and professionalism are not respected.
I would advise future applicants to ask clear questions about expectations and leadership style before proceeding. This experience raised too many red flags for me to feel confident in pursuing a role with this organization.
