The Big Initiative interview questions

I recently underwent a hiring process with the company and wanted to share my experience. The initial stages were positive, with professional interviews and a prompt offer. However, reaching out to former employees on LinkedIn revealed overwhelmingly negative feedback about the company, indicating a toxic work environment. Despite the warning signs, I accepted the offer and provided references based on my positive interview experience and the learning platform is a very noble cause and wished to help making it more accessible. However, after accepting, the company went on silent for almost two weeks and then began calling me multiple times a day while I was on a business trip for my current employer, complaining about my responsiveness. They also falsely claimed not to have received all my references and even implied they were doing me a favour by sending the contract. My referees provided evidence to prove otherwise and I was able to get the references from them which I emailed personally to the hiring manager for convenience. Furthermore, the company expected me to resign immediately after the interview, disregarding the need for proper notice to my current employer. Despite my multiple attempts to explain my intention to resign after signing the contract and providing the necessary two weeks' notice, they insisted I start immediately or not at all. Considering these circumstances, I declined their offer, believing in the importance of providing adequate notice before joining a new company. Based on my experience, I strongly advise against interviewing with this company as it could result in a waste of time for both the candidate and their referees. The negative feedback from former employees accurately reflects a toxic and unprofessional work environment. It is crucial, whether you are starting out or have experience, to prioritize self-respect and seek employers who value professionalism and respect, ensuring a long term fulfilling career.

I applied for the role over LinkedIn, and was contacted soon after by a fellow called Neil. We had a brief chat during a telephone interview, he seemed pleasant enough and I was invited to physically interview in their Deansgate office. On the day I had to cancel due to a family emergency which took precedence. I contacted Neil early on and notified him of this, apologised and asked if I could come in earlier or a day later. He replied saying that they would be in touch to organise another interview. This never happened. I emailed him back twice again giving my availability to interview, only to be ignored. I feel that this was extremely unprofessional and soured me on the company. Looking at the other reviews, I feel like I've had a lucky escape.
