      Sales Associate Interview

      14 June 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Tallahassee, FL
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied in-person. I interviewed at The Buckle (Tallahassee, FL)

      Interview

They asked me a lot of questions. The hiring manager and store manger were interviewing together. They were really polite. In the beginning the store manager noticed my jeans were Rock revival a brand they sell- (I made them laugh when I said I roll them up because I'm short but I love them anyway) They checked out my jeans and agreed they were cute. (I made sure to say they were my favorite) The interviewers asked me questions such as: Q:so I see you were in student council and JROTC, tell me what position you held here. A: in student council I really just helped out a lot, I didn't have any set position, I helped decorate for special events. In JROTC I stayed in for 3 years and for two I did s3 assistant work where you do paperwork, and notes for the s3. Q: so what is ROTC? A: it was a military bases organization where we would make students outstanding individuals and it has some leadership training. Q: Who is your reference Rodriquez Phillips and what would he say about you? A: he was my hiring manager at Burger King, and I don't believe he would ever say anything bad about me, he actually said he would never say anything bad about me if used as a reference. Q: who is heber Meeks? What would he say about you? A: he was my JROTC instructor and I think he would say I am reliable. I get things done and this past year I know he would say I was extremely helpful. Q: what was the hardest part of working at Burger King? A:definitely the stress, but it's something you have to push through. Q: how did you deal with stress at Burger King? A: I left all my troubles at the door- I always knew what to expect and I would recommend to anyone that that's the best way to get through a shift. Put a smile on your face so your customers feel welcome, the same way you would want to feel in a store. Q: how were you able to multi-task at burger king? A: (made them laugh with an exaggerated "oh wow I don't even know") well, I knew what to expect, that I had to get things done in 2:45 or as fast as possible with occasionally taking orders, making drinks, taking money, handing back change, and handing out food all in one go. Q: what would you do in a situation where you had to help a customer? A: I would try to make the customer feel comfortable while providing help of what he or she is looking for, and leaving satisfied with those items or even a little extra and still being satisfied. Q: I see your education you graduated cum laude, what are your plans with TCC? A: I said I was waiting to set up classes when my transcripts get sent. Q: what do you want to major in? A: nursing definitely. Q: nursing, why is that? A: my step mom was a NICU nurse and I really like to help people, I especially love babies so I know I would never hate my job. (They laughed here and said we like babies too) Q: so how available are you over the summer? Do you have any trips planned? A: No trips, I have an open schedule over the summer. Q: and for fall what then? A: all I would need to do is take off for my classes, like my friends have done for those jobs their off days are class days, and I'd love to do that. Then they asked me if I had any questions- I asked: 1. if hired what would my responsibilities be? 2. If hired, are there ways to work your way up to management from a part time position? They said they would get in touch with me within 48-72 hours of the interview. I liked how they asked me a lot of questions. It was nice to feel like they were interested. What I wore?? I wore my dark straight Rock revival jeans, black flats, a neat necklace (chain with a diamond heart pendant) over my chevron blue and blue blouse. I made sure to look professional. I hope it went well!

      Interview

Super quick and easy. The woman who interviews me was very kind and understanding to it being my first retail job. I was offered a job on the spot and was able to ask any lingering questions I had about the role and profession.

      Interview

They bring you in to ask basic interview questions. Make sure you completely dress the part. I was told before the interview by an associate that I should wear clothes they sell there. She didn't go into detail but I take that as they won't hire you if you don't.
