I had a positive experience with the interview, and it felt straightforward. I advanced to the second round, but unfortunately, I was declined afterward. It became clear to me that the company wasn’t focused on finding someone with my level of experience but was instead looking to hire at a lower cost. They knew I was overqualified and would likely seek the maximum of their already small salary range. I’m disappointed because it felt like my time and energy were wasted over the course of two weeks when it was apparent they couldn't meet my salary expectations. I can’t help but feel like I was used as a strong backup candidate while they searched for a more affordable option.
